On October 4 and 5, 2014 the 80th Illinois State Tournament was held in Marion, IL.  Eleven players attended from three states. All players competed together in a single tournament. The tournament champion is Flavious Burgess.  The Illinois Tournament A Class Champion is Gene Ellison. The B Class top Illinois player is Earl Kennell. Tournament played 6 Swiss paired rounds with the final round using King of the Hill pairing  A good time was had by everyone. Prize fund was a healthy $460 thanks to generous donations.  Please mark your calendar to the first weekend in April 2015 for the Illinois State Tournament. The state of Illinois has 102 counties. Excluding Chicago’s Cook County gives us the name, Illinois 101 Counties Tournament, aka "Illinois 101."  The first 101 Counties Tourney was in February 19 thru 20, 1926 the "Illinois Down State Tournament" was held at Champaign with H.H.
